The Church Persecuted in Nigeria: 56 Dead

Less than a month ago a vigil was held in Winnipeg for the school aged girls kidnapped in Chibok, Nigeria.

Today I discovered, in much heartache, that our brothers and sisters in Christ continue to be persecuted. 56 people were said to have died in a recent escapade by a local terrorist group who are also responsible for the kidnappings.

Ibrahim Musa, a local man is credited with the following quote, as reported by the Sahara Reporters; they “locked worshipers inside the EYN Church and sprayed bullets on them.” He disclosed 'that the terrorist group killed nine worshipers and later set the church ablaze.'

Several other churches, including EYN Church, the Deeper Life Church, and the Church of Christ In Nations (COCIN), were also set ablaze. In addition several homes were destroyed.

My spirit is downtrodden, my heart weeps. Please join me today in praying for these villages in Nigeria where the church is being persecuted. They mourn, as we should too.

Lord would you comfort our siblings in Nigeria. Would you meet them with mercy and compassion, and let rivers of justice nourish them.
