It's been a while since I've shown up on the CM blog, and I apologize for that. Life has been busy, and for a while it felt like I was posting too frequently. When I was a kid, I wanted to be a pilot. From Kindergarten up through my first year post-high school that was all I thought about. I enjoyed the flying and learning, but I quickly realized it wasn't my true passion.
Instead, God was growing in me a desire to share His message with others through the written word. Not blogs, articles, or things of that nature, but stories. I have always been an avid reader, consuming books as quickly and often as possible. You can hardly catch me at any given time with my mind in less than 2 or 3 novels.
I began to write in high school, but it rapidly developed as my aviation career ground to a halt. I have been writing significantly for 9 years now, and I hope that I'm improving. Over time I've come to learn that my niche is what I call "theological fiction," or I alternately call "modern day parables". In a sense, I spend an entire novel unwrapping one theological concept.
In my 2009 novel, Make Jesus Lie, it's about the problem of pain and our response to it.
In my recent 2011 novel, the Good Morning man, it's about living in God's kingdom and how that relates to physical healing.
Perhaps it's strange to see novels based on theological concepts, but Jesus story-ized big points all the time. In fact, it was often his favorite way to speak. I sincerely believe that stories stick in our minds far more than bullet-point sermons, and that stories have the intense power to change our lives.
If you're willing, I'd love to have you read one (or more) of my stories. You can find them at www.paulloewen.com, where they're for sale (they come right to your door!).
Taking Heart,
Paul Loewen
