Watch: Worship led by MC Canada leadership

Doug Klassen, executive minister for Mennonite Church Canada, has recorded a sermon for churches to use during this time of social distancing.

It is expected that many congregations will not meet on Sunday, March 22, and for several Sundays afterward, to limit the spread of COVID-19. MC Canada created the video in recognition that leadership of many churches across the denomination are working hard to come up with alternative options for worship services. Churches that aren’t able to stream their sermons so congregants can view them at home are invited to use Klassen’s sermon.

Recorded earlier this week at Douglas Mennonite Church in Winnipeg, the video—which also includes music—features a message from Klassen on John 9, which is the lectionary text for this Sunday.

“The beauty of John 9 is that while healing happens, other complications are introduced,” Klassen said in a statement from MC Canada announcing the video. “The COVID-19 crisis is immensely complicated, but where is Jesus coming to us in the midst of it all? Let’s explore together.”
