MCC joins Good Soil campaign

February 16, 2016

Mennonite Central Committee Canada (MCC) has joined with the Canadian Foodgrains Bank (CFGB) in a postcard campaign called Good Soil. This campaign urges the federal government to increase aid for agriculture—particularly aid that will assist small-scale farmers in the developing world. According to CFGB, Canada has a history of being a strong supporter of agricultural development. However, Canada’s aid budget for agricultural development has been steadily declining over the past few years. The Good Soil campaign stresses that supporting small-scale farmers is critical to reducing hunger and poverty, empowering women, and creating a fairer world. To view a video about the campaign and to order postcards for your group or community go to http://foodgrainsbank.ca/campaigns/good-soil.
